Oreo Stuffed White Chocolate Brownies

December 3, 2011 by GG 29 Comments

White Chocolate Oreo Stuffed Brownies

In my time I’ve made loads of birthday cakes.  The turret with ghosts, the bag of sweets – overflowing with sweet shop sweets, the toadstool even Tracy Island complete with rockets and open hatch in the mountain.  So, when one of the Glam Teens said that he’d been thinking about what he wanted for a birthday cake, I was surprised he chose white chocolate brownies.  However to make them extra special I followed Erika Beth’s fabulous idea and layered them with Oreos.

Bag Of Sweets Cake

Oreo Stuffed Brownies

  • 140g unsalted butter
  • 400g light brown muscovado sugar (Dark brown is fine but gives a more treacle flavour)
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla essence or vanilla paste
  • 150g good quality white chocolate
  • 185g double filled Oreos (single fill is fine) about 1 and 1/2 packets
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • a pinch of salt
  • 300g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Method

  • Grease a brownie tin and line with baking paper/parchment
  • Heat the oven to 180c / 350f / gas mark 4
  • Melt the white chocolate over a double boiler, make sure the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl with the chocolate, as white chocolate freezes very easily
  • Melt the butter in a large heavy bottomed saucepan, then add the sugar and mix together
  • Remove from the heat.  Leave to cool for about 1 minute, add the white chocolate, beaten eggs and vanilla essence.  Stir well to combine the ingredients. Do not beat.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into the chocolate and egg mixture.  Just combine but do not over stir
  • Pour half the mixture into the tin and ease it into the corners
  • Place a layer of Oreos over the top of the layer of batter, I place them about 0.5cm apart, but they can butt up against each other
  • Pour the remaining mixture over the Oreos, you may have to use a palette knife to help spread the  mixture to ensure the Oreos are covered

White Chocolate Brownies Straight From The Oven

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until the mix looks like it is just browning at the edges but is still soft in the middle
  • Remove from the oven and cool slightly (15 minutes) in the tin
  • Remove from the tin using the excess baking parchment to help lift it and cool on a wire rack with the paper still on
  • When cool, remove the paper and cut into bars or squares.
  • Store in an air tight tin

I love Oreos too but I’m sure this would work with several different centres, Mars Bars? GG

Ooooh….Mars Bars! I am all over that! They look delicious, much more decadent than the ones I had last night (my daughter made some from a mix…not the same)
Will have to make them soon. Happy holiday baking!

I’ve just bought mini mars to give it a go. I used to use a Ghiordelli mix, in fact those were the first brownies I ever had. They were good, but you’re right not the same as made from scratch. GG

I still haven’t tasted Oreo. I have been told they were dangerously addictive… Your brownies look luscious and I can only imagine all the Oreo fans going crazy for them!

Oreos are very chocolatey, dark and luscious. They go with the White chocolate sweetness brilliantly. GG
